    Hi,

I am just wondering if anyone has unit/time plans to compare to for next year?

And what the pros and cons are if covering Software Design and Development and Information Systems Design and Development in sequence or in parallel.

The order in which you teach will have an impact on how you assess. In sequence teaching allows you to do the SQA unit assessments whilst still fresh in pupils minds. Parallel teaching means you might want to develop an assessment that will assess the entire course but this will need to be verified unless you use the folio approach which was discussed at the implementation meeting I was at. SQA did say they would release other types of unit assessment (folio) so that we could teach in parallel – not sure when these are to be released…

There is a time line in the File tab section of this group….

I’ve just uploaded a deaft of the Westhill plan to the files area. Not saying it’s anything like the right way to do things, mind! Comments & criticisms welcomed.

Thanks Mark… question: how much of this might have been looked at in S3 as well?
We are in the situation of having introduced a lot of N4 and some N5 concepts through S3 work.

We don’t get S3 for Computing, but in the S1-2 course we have worked through the RSE Scratch materials to introduce students to programming (hence the use of BYOB for N4), have done some work on Computer hardware and software and are working on a web design unit for S2 that will cover basic HTML and wysiwyg editing. This should at least cover some of the N4 content and will make that a bit of a ‘recap’ – important with only a year to deliver all this!
