Can anyone confirm what software your school will be using for the development of a simple information system? I was wondering if wikis would be acceptable for this. Any thoughts would be great.

Hadn’t thought of using a blog or wiki. I think I’m going to use either….. Serif WebPlus (free version), Komposer / nVu, or BlueVoda for N4 level. I have a mixed ability class and thought that the poorer ones can work with an editor and the more able can get into the source side of these and produce some HTML of their own.

We are already getting the pupils to make individual blogs for security unit of work and after going through the unit assessment support I thought that I could add on this outcome at end as it would bring together the skills and knowledge that they had been working on, rather as a separate unit of work. What do you think? Thanks.

Ah right, I would assume that as long as it covers both outcomes from the Nat 4 unit assessment then it would be perfectly acceptable, however, you would have to have your assessment verified before it was valid.

The guidance does say (page 6) a “series of webpages using a web authoring package” but that is for the unit assessment supplied by SQA. As for the media types all that appears to be required at Nat 4 is text and graphics with links to related information.

We had an inservice day today and talked about Weebly as a possibility for Nat 4? Anyone else using Weebly? You can add your own custom HTML with it although the majority of it is drag and drop.

I tried Weebly with a class, but found it slow and unresponsive once 20 kids were all working on it. I used Glew and Google web pages instead.
