New Higher (Update)

SQA have uploaded an updated arrangements table for the Higher. Can be found here… http://www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/56924.html

Under the Course Asessment Specification section.

Looks like there are quite a few changes. Exam is now 2 hours long instead of 1 hour 30 mins.

    Thanks for the heads-up Stephen!

    Thanks for that Stephen.
I’m about 150 marks into writing 3 sample exam papers for Hodder Gibson.
Think I now need to bin/rewrite about 30 marks worth.

I wonder how long it will take them to update the course and unit specification document as it’s extremely difficult to follow what’s still in from their update doc. It’s not as bad as it first looked as many of the changes are just a restructuring (moving from one row to another, splitting structures into database and web like N5 for example).

The exam’s been 2 hours for a while by the way. It’s says 2 hours on the front of the specimen paper.

    Thanks for the link.

Sorry to sound a bit dumb here, but can someone explain to me what the colour coding, underlines and strikethroughs mean?

For example, Domain specific is red with a strike though. Does this mean that it no longer part of the required content? Object Oriented has a red bullet with a strike through. Still required?? Has file handling been removed or just moved box?

    Hi Brian,

The colours and strikethroughs are ‘tracked changes’ basically:

A red strikethrough means the text has been removed from the final version
A green strikethrough means the item has been moved to elsewhere in the document.

Sometimes things can get a bit confusing to read, as for example the bullet point may have a strikethrough because the line above was deleted, but the line above’s bullet is still there, still forming 1 line total (if that makes any sense!)

Not dumb at all – I only learned to work with tracked changes fairly recently too!

    Cheers,

    Mark

The final doc appears to have vanished from the SQA site, might suggest they are still tidying up something?

The direct link hat was tweeted out by CAS last night still works though: http://www.sqa.org.uk/files_ccc/CfE_CourseAssessSpec_Higher_Technologies_ComputingScience.pdf
