Does anybody know the cut off scores for awards?

It looks like they have been lowered slightly as I have 2 pupils with 57% and 59% awarded a B (band 4). I also have a pupil with 44% awarded a D (band 7).

My pupils who have 59% have received a C grade!

Don’t think it was just Maths that should have been looked at! our Higher pupils achieved, on average, 10 -15% below our very conservative estimates. (Conservative, because we wondered if the (bought in) prelim was difficult enough) We have never been this wrong in our estimates before.

Interesting to see that Computing (old Higher) mean score is 42.6% – lower than any other Higher. And the New Higher is second bottom with a terrifying mean score of 37.4%!!!

Old Higher cut off scores were Upper A – 158, A – 133, B – 113, C – 94, D – 84

I believe new Higher cut offs were:
Upper A – 124, A – 102, B – 86, C – 71, D – 63

I was shocked by my pupils exam performance, as were they. Whilst we had some risky candidates, who were always going to struggle to pass (some were always going to struggle to get a D), not one got an A, and in the exam no one got more than 49%. I had a few who I thought were good candidates for getting an A, only getting a C. We are all baffled as to how the exam performances were so bad. Aside from 1 candidate, pretty much everyone underachieved on our estimates. Can’t wait to see the marking scheme.

I am in a similar situation with my class. Although it wasn’t a great class I was expecting more than the one A that the class got. Two pupils in particular should have been should A’s only managed to get mid 60s in the final exam.

My estimates were 10-15% more than their actual grades, My Estimates Average total mark was 93.8 and my Actual Average total mark was 74.8.

I will be fascinated to read the Course Report when it is made available.
