Hardware for Kodu Game Lab

    Hi,

I have been using an XBox 360 controller (USB compatible) for making games in Kodu – it engages the pupils even further as they can relate to using the same controller at home and in general I think it’s cooler and than a keyboard!

My department are about to purchase 65 of these controllers to roll out a new course utilising Kodu across four classrooms.

I would like to know if any other schools would be interested in potentially purchasing controllers as I intend to sell controllers for £13/£14 (dependant on number purchased) a controller to schools. Before I go ahead I was hoping to gauge interest.  It will be through a legitimate limited uk company (my own) so no dodgy dealings!

The reason I am doing this is because I cannot seem to find (possibly I’m not looking in the right place) for a place to sell me the number of controllers I want. GAME’s B2B department dont have the stock and AMAZON don’t do purchase orders since 2009. If I buy them a few at a time there are places but no good if I want 65!

If this is something you might be interested in please let me know even if it is just a note of curiosity!

    Cheers,
    Alex

I’d be interested. Just put an order through for 30 controllers.
What’s your company details and I’ll pass them on. The only fly in the ointment might be that we use fujitsu so they may use their own suppliers. Worth a try though

    Hi Chris,

The company is called Flashrat Solutions Ltd. The controllers have a USB connection and the drivers for them are available on the Microsoft website. The controllers themselves are microsoft but they are exactly the same except the branding (x on the silver button) isn’t there. We’re still in the “market research” stage but if there’s enough interest we will be taking stock of these controllers within the next month.

    Cheers,

    Alex

I have just spent 5 weeks trying to order 38 through our I-procurement – Nightmare,

First I got them to agree to use play.com at £15 each, problems with ordering and after 2 weeks the order was cancelled, then was advised to use amazon at £17 each, but that order was unsuccessful. Eventually managed to use BT business at £16 each and keeping my fingers crossed that the order goes through. We wouldn’t be allowed to use your company unless it was register with the council as an authorised supplier. Not good when we are trying to do new things in class.

I can’t find them on the Misco website – can you forward me the link?
