What browser (inc. version) are people using in their school?

Hi Jeremy,

 

All Computing Departments in East Lothian should have access to MS Internet Explorer 9 and Firefox 5.

Our school (independant) is using Internet Explorer 8.

All of the migrated school’s use Internet Explorer 9 and I’m also trialling the enterprise edition of Google Chrome on my machine at the moment.

Internet Explorer 9 is the browser of choice by corporate IT.  Firefox has indeed been removed from all machines.  However, we use Chrome with all Computing and Business education classes.

Unfortunately for us in Highland, fujitsu have deemed any other browser than Ie9 as a security risk so we are stuck with it.

Independent School.

IE9 on the Windows 7 boxes and IE8 on the XP boxes.  Firefox was installed for a while but the IT dept decided it was a security risk and pulled it.

In Highland with IE9 but interestingly for Chris I also have Firefox/Chrome installed on my class machines.  Used to do a bit of a comparison when we had S1 classes.

Another independent school – we use IE8 on Windows 7.

At Clydebank High we use a mixture of IE8 on XP and IE9/Firefox/Safari/Chrome on W7.

Currently have the big 3 installed IE8 (XP machines), Firefox & Chrome

 

Firefox is about to be removed however, its muddying the water at the moment.

in Oban High we have Internet Explorer 8 installed on XP machines. I have firefox as well as IE8 on my machine. When I mentioned about the possibility of getting it put on the pupil’s machines security was mentioned as a reason for possibilty not doing so.
