There is a BCS meeting that will hopefully be open to non-members coming up on Wednesday 22nd August that I thought a lot of Computing teachers might be interested in…

Date: 22nd August 2012
Presentation: Raspberry Pi Meets Arduino
Speaker: Dr. Simon Monk
Venue: Room 4.31, University of Edinburgh Informatics Forum, 10 Crichton Street, Edinburgh, EH8 9AB
http://www..edinburgh.bcs.org/events/2011-12/120822.htm
Presentation is free of charge with refreshments and networking from 6pm

“In this talk I introduce the Raspberry Pi and Arduino boards, identifying their uses
and demonstrating how each can play to its strengths by using a Raspberry Pi as
the front-end to an Arduino board handling the electronics. This will be illustrated
with live demonstrations of the devices communicating with each other.”

  1. Heard about this just too late! It sounds like an interesting session. I got a Raspberry Pi recently and am just investigating the possibilities. Combining with Arduino seems to open up lots of opportunities for robotics, automation and other cool stuff.

  2. I’ve been told that anyone can just turn up, if that helps

  3. Looking forward to it as I’ve got a loan of a Raspberry Pi and an Arduino and would like some ideas for how to use them in the future in class or after school.

  4. RaspberryPi is to feature tomorrow at the education@turing event for the Edinburgh Turing festival on Sat 25th. Can book online
